Club Notes December 30 2013
LOTTO: Last week’s numbers were 3, 8, 15 and 22. There was no jackpot winner but nine people matched three numbers winning £15 each. FUNDRAISER: The Ladies footballers held a very successful function in the Mill Wheel bar on Saturday night with hypnotist Dale Thomas. The draw for the “Select an Envelope” which had been running since the summertime also took place at this function. First Prize £1000 Patrick Kelly c/o The Tile Shed Ballinderry, £500 Declan Callan Pomeroy, £200 Cara Loughran Kinnigillion Road. The three £100 prizes went to Eamon Ward Keenaghan Road, Sean Cullen Dungannon and Ciaran McElroy Mountfield. The club would like to thank all involved in the running of the function and those who organised the draw for all their efforts. A special word of thanks to all who bought tickets or supported the events.

 

SCÓ YOUTH PRESENTATION: The club held their annual youth Presentation in the Clubrooms on Friday night last. The event was well attended and all our young players under 12 were presented with certificates of achievement. Awards were also made to those who were selected for Tyrone Development squads. The young players of the year went to Hannah McGarrity who was presented with her award by senior player Dean McNally and Aaron Loughran who received the Gary Lagan Cup from Jason Lagan. Presentations were also made for the Mary McCullagh Memorial Rounder’s tournament. The evening was rounded off with music from the members of our Traditional Classes. A big vote of thanks to all who took part and those who helped out on the night

 

SCOR NA OG: Commiserations to our Quiz team of James McGurk, Matthew Loughran, Fergal Mallon and Matthew McGuigan who represented the club the County Final in Coalisland on Sunday last. The boys put up a good performance finishing third. Well done for all your efforts

 

ANUAL GENERAL MEETING: The AGM will take place on Sunday 15th December at 3pm in the Clubrooms. We would encourage everyone with the interests of the Wolfe Tones at heart to attend. This is the best forum for expressing your views and help make us a better club

LOTTO: Last week’s numbers were 7, 10, 20 and 24. There was no jackpot winner but there were eight winners who matched three numbers receiving £15 each. LADIES FUNDRAISER: International Hypnotist Dale Thomas is set to perform for the special fundraising night on behalf of Kildress Ladies Gaelic Football team next Saturday night (30th November) at The Mill Wheel Bar. Tickets are now available by contacting any committee member of the club and you are advised to come early as numbers will be strictly limited.

 

SCÓR NA ÓG: Best wishes to our scor na og team of James McGurk, Matthew Loughran, Fergal Mallon and Matthew McGuigan who will represent the club in the County finals on Sunday next in Coalisland Parochial Centre at 3pm. Anyone wishing to represent the club in Senior Scor which begins in January 2014 please contact any committee member.

 

ANUAL GENERAL MEETING: Please note the AGM has now been fixed for Sunday 15th December at 3pm. It had been planned for next Sunday but the club’s participation in the County Scor Na Og final made this date unsuitable.

 

YOUTH PRESENTATION: The Youth Presentation Evening will take place at Gortacladdy on Friday 29th November from 7:30pm-8:30pm. All children who participated in Gaelic Games for the club are encouraged to attend. We would ask that all children are accompanied by an adult to the evening. It would be appreciated if parents could assist with catering on the evening by making sandwiches or bringing some refreshments. Certificates will be presented to all children U6-U12 who represented the club this year, players who were on the Tyrone Development Squad, Mary McCullagh Rounders medals and Girls and Boys Youth player of the year. In addition there will be performances from members of the Kildress Cultural Group. There will be a draw on the evening with a variety of prizes kindly donated by local businesses

LOTTO: Last week’s numbers were 2, 7, 19 and 22. There was no jackpot winner but one person matched 3 numbers winning £100. Lucky winner Patsy Boone Blackrock Road. Next week’s jackpot will be £4050.

 

RESERVE CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL: The Reserves travelled to Greencastle on Saturday last to take on Pomeroy in the Intermediate Reserve final. However it was not to be their day as Pomeroy turned in a terrific first half display and were in a commanding position at half time. Kildress rallied well in the second half but no avail. Final score Pomeroy 4-13 Kildress 1-10. Congratulations to Pomeroy on their victory. Despite losing this game our reserves have had a tremendous run in this competition with what has to be the youngest reserve team we have ever fielded so well done to all concerned.

 

SCÓR NA ÓG: Well done to all the acts who represented the club at the Scór na Óg semi-finals on Sunday night in Carrickmore. Congratulations to the Quiz team who have made it through to the County finals. They will be held in Coalisland Parochial Centre on Sunday 1st December at 3pm

CLUB MERCHANDISE: New Kildress merchandise is now available to order. To ensure your order is ready for Christmas all completed order forms must be returned to either Kildress Filling Station or Loughran's shop by 15th November.

 

RESERVE FOOTBALL: The reserves will play their Division 2 Reserve Championship final next Saturday with Pomeroy as their opponents. The game will take place in Galbally at 2pm. Please come out and support the team in what should be our last game of the season.

Club Notes November 04 2013
LOTTO: Last week’s numbers were 2, 15, 21 and 23. There was no jackpot winner but two people matched three numbers winning £50 each. They were Gerard McAleer Gortacladdy and Paddy Warnock Greencastle. Next week’s jackpot will be £3950. Tickets available in all the local shops

 

RESERVES: Our Reserves qualified for the Intermediate Reserve championship Final with a hard earned two point victory over Moortown at Gortacladdy on Friday night. Their cause wasn’t helped when they lost their goalkeeper to a red card after only two minutes. However the fourteen men battled bravely throughout the remainder of the game and held on to win on the score of 0-13 to 0-11. Kildress scorers Matthew Heagney (0-6), Enda McAleer (0-3), Martin McGurk (0-2). Caolan Loughran (0-1) and Paul Mullin (0-1). They will now play the winners of Pomeroy and Rock who meet in the other Semi Final.

 

SENIOR FOOTBALL: Our seniors travelled to Edendork on Sunday for their last league game and were defeated by three points in a game of two halves. Edendork led by 1-11 to 0-3 at half time but the Tones put in a spirited revival in the second half eventually losing by three points. Final score Edendork 1-15 Kildress 1-12. Kildress scorers Martin McGurk (1-2), Frank McGurk (0-4), Matthew Heagney (0-2), Des Tracey (0-2), Eoin Brannigan (0-1) and Philip McKenna (0-1). This result means Kildress will play in Division two again next year and the club would like to thank the senior management and all the players for all the work they put in during the year

 

LADIES FOOTBALL: Hard Luck to our senior ladies who were narrowly defeated in the league final today on a score line Aghyaran 2-12 Kildress 1-14. There was also disappointment for our under 16 girls who lost their league final to Badoney on Friday night. The club would like to thank all the girls and their management teams for all their efforts throughout the year.

 

LADIES SOR NA NÓG: The first round of Scor na nOg took place last weekend and we attended the Killyclogher heat which was held in Dun Uladh on Sunday night. We were represented in Ceili Dancing, Instrumental Music, Solo Singing Ballad Group and Quiz. All Five entries qualified for the Semi-Final in Eglish in two weeks’ time. Congratulations to all the competitors and their mentors on this success.

 

COMMITTEE MEETING: The November committee meeting will be held on next Monday night 11th. All committee members are asked to make an effort to attend.

The Tones now meet Moortown next Saturday in the Semi-Final, Venue and Time TBC

 

SENIOR FOOTBALL: The senior team were at home to Rock on Sunday and just edged out the visitors winning by one point in a very exciting finish. Rock had wind advantage in the first half and led by seven at half time. The Tones came back well in the second half and a 61st minute free from substitute Colm Loughran was the difference in the teams. Final Score Kildress 1-12 Rock 1-11. Kildress Scorers Matthew Heagney (1-2), Frank McGurk (0-3), Des Tracey (0-3), Johnny Connolly (0-1), Niall Quinn (0-1), Eoin Brannigan (0-1) and Colm Loughran (0-1). Kildress travel to Edendork for the last league game with a place in the promotion play offs at stake. Next up is Clann Na Gael which has been fixed for next Saturday. There are a round of league fixtures pencilled in for next Sunday with Rock as our opponents.

 

LADIES YOUTH: Our under 16 girls progressed to the Championship final when they defeated Loughmacrory in the semi-final last Monday night. Final Score Kildress 5-14 Loughmacrory 5-9

LADIES FOOTBALL: The senior ladies qualified for the league final when they defeated Castlederg at Gortacladdy last Friday night. The final score was Kildress 9-15 Castlederg 1-5 and the girls now await the winners of Cookstown and Aghyaran semi-final.

 

MENS FOOTBALL: Our seniors and reserves hosted Pomeroy in the league on Saturday evening. The reserves played out a very entertaining draw with a last minute penalty by Eoin Brannigan securing the draw for Kildress. Final score Kildress 5-9 Pomeroy 4-12. Scorers Eoin Brannigan (3-1), Caolan Loughran (1-1), Adrain O’Gara (1-0), Colm Loughran (0-3), Shane Donnelly (0-2), Niall Quinn (0-1) and Marty McGurk (0-1). The senior game started badly for the hosts with Pomeroy in control during the first half. Half time score Kildress 0-3 Pomeroy 1-6. However the second half saw Kildress rally with two goals in three minutes at the start of the half and from that to the finish they held the upper hand to win on a score of Kildress 2-10 Pomeroy 1-10. Scorers Damian Kelly (1-1), Des Tracey (0-3), Martin Grimes (1-0), Johnny Connolly (0-2), Matthew Heagney (0-2) and Frank McGurk (0-2).

Scorers Darragh Loughran (1-1), Caolan Mullan (1-1) and Liam Nugent (1-0) Thanks to Sean Beggs, Gerard Grimes and Joe Gilligan for their time and effort coaching the boys this year. The U13s play on Monday away to Trillick and Thursday at home to Loughmacrory

YOUTH: The U13 boys lost to Newtownstewart at home. They have a free week and will train on Saturday morning. The U16s lost an exciting Championship game against Loughmacrory to a last minute goal. The game was played in Loughmacrory and the final score was Loughmacrory 2-12 Kildress 2-10. Scorers Darragh Loughran (2-3), Darren O’Kane (0-4), Caolan Mullan (0-2) and Liam Nugent (0-1) They play in the league Quarter Final on Saturday away to Aghayaran. The Under 13s began their league campaign last Thursday night and lost out in a high scoring game to Drumragh. They play Newtonstewart at home this Thursday night at 7pm

 

MARY M CULLAGH CUP: The annual Rounder’s tournament for the Mary McCullagh Cup will be played next Sunday at Gortacladdy commencing at 1.30pm. Teams can be entered on the day. Despite going a goal down in the first few minutes the Tones fought back to lead by a point at half time. However Stewartstown held the upper hand in the second half and ran out deserving winners. CULTURE: Music club - Registration will be held on Saturday 7th September from 10am until 12 noon at Gortacladdy club rooms for anyone wishing to attend our music class. We provide lessons for tin whistle, flute, fiddle, banjo and mandolin. On Friday night they travelled to Beragh somewhat understrength and lost on a score line of Beragh 2-16 Kildress 1-9 Scorers Matty McGuigan (1-1), Darragh Loughran (0-2), Darren O’Kane (0-2), Liam Nugent (0-1), Pauric Lagan (0-1), Adam Connolly (0-1) and Caolan Mullan (0-1). Under 13’s begin their league campaign this Thursday evening when they play Drumragh at home. ADULT FOOTBALL: Our Seniors had a very important win when they defeated Dungannon in a league game played at Gortacladdy last Saturday night. It was a very competitive affair which could have gone either way but the Tones held on to win by the minimum margin. Final Score Kildress 1-7 Dungannon 1-6. Rock Primary School won the McAleer Cup and Lissan won the Brady cup. Senior Ladies League:The senior ladies got their second win of their league campaign against Castlederg with a great team performance. Kildress dominated the game early on however, Castlederg got themselves back into the game by scoring a couple of well worked goals.Kildress continued knocking over the points at ease and converting a goal chance late in the first half to go in at half time with well deserved lead. Castlederg got of to a good start in the second half with a couple of points, but with Kildress dominating all positions on the pitch working the ball well out of the defence and with the midfield creating space moving the ball well into the forwards. MENS FOOTBALL:Kildress Seniors and Reserves travelled to Strabane on Sunday last for the opening games in Division 2 of the league. The Reserves were defeated on a scoreline of 2-7 to 0-5 Scorers Damian Kelly (0-2), Cealon Loughran (0-2) and Michael Tracey (0-1) The seniors fared somewhat better gaining a point in a draw of 0-11 each. Next week’s jackpot will be £2100 YOUTH: The Minors began their league campaign with an encouraging display at home to Owen Roes. Owen Roes started well opening up a four point lead but Kildress rallied and by the end of the first half had drawn level on a score line of 1-7 each. Kildress controlled the third quarter but shot a number of wides. Owen Roes finished very strongly with a goal and a couple of long range frees making the difference. A feature of the game was the score taking of Kildress full forward Colm Loughran who finished the game with a total of 0-11. Caolen Loughran scoring 1-1 Their next game is away to Carrickmore on Saturday afternoon.
